Meet Dr. J | Lakeway Moms Network

Meet Dr. J with Empower Family Chiropractic!

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting with Dr. J a few weeks back and loved her family approach to chiropractic care. Our family is very natural minded, and with three kids 5 and under, a family chiropractor the kids love is a must. She is also one of the few Doctors of Chiropractic in the area who is certified in the Webster Technique, a technique used on pregnant women to improve positioning for both mom and baby.

Get to know Dr. J and be sure to let her know Lakeway Moms referred you!

Please introduce yourself to the moms in the area!

My name is Dr. Jeannique Norbert, but I’m known more widely in the community simply as Dr. J. I’ve had the joy and honor of serving as a family chiropractor here in Lakeway for the last 5 years and look forward to the years to come of serving this awesome community that has welcomed me with open arms from day one!

I am a Caribbean native, born in St. Lucia and spending my early childhood in Trinidad and Tobago. I’ve happily claimed Texas as home for the last 25 years, spending the last 16 years as an Austinite. I’m a proud 2010 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (Hook ’em Horns!) where I achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Pre-Med. While at UT, I was blessed with the opportunity to march as a piccolo player in the University of Texas Longhorn Band, “Showband of the Southwest,” for my entire time as a student. I pursued my calling to become a Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) in Pasadena, Texas, where I graduated spring of 2015. I then made my way back to Austin as quickly as I could to open Empower Family Chiropractic!

I began my journey as a mother in January 2020 with the birth of my first daughter, Katiyah. My husband and I are currently expecting our second daughter in August 2021! With only having brothers between the two of us, we are excited to be girl parents and to see their sisterly bond unfold. When time permits, my favorite pastime is to be outside running! I’ve completed 2 marathons and 2 half marathons with hopes of one day qualifying for the Boston Marathon. My husband and I hope to pass on our love of running to our children one day!

I love wakesurfing! Although I’m a forever rookie at this sport, it was the water sport I fell in love with when coming to Lakeway! I was taught how to wake surf early into starting my business here by one of my suitemates in my first office location (above The Grove/Lola Savannah).

What makes your practice stand out to moms in the area?

My office is truly a family chiropractic office in all aspects of the word! Whether you are seeking natural healing for your child (newborn on up), currently pregnant and have goals of optimizing your pregnancy experience, or hoping to have a smoother recovery and more energy during your postpartum months, my office is a unique place for you. I am one of the few Doctors of Chiropractic in the area who is certified in the Webster Technique, the specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment during pregnancy to improve pelvis balance for mom and help create optimal positioning for baby within the womb.

Within my practice, there is also a special pediatric room to help your baby or toddler truly experience the feeling of being in an office designed just for them too. In addition to providing chiropractic care, being a part of the Empower Family also means having exclusive access to additional health and wellness topics of education that I provide that can be specifically catered to your health goals or questions about family wellness.

What advice do you have for moms that relates to your business?

I always like to empower moms to trust your motherly instincts and remain open-minded when it comes to seeking health care options for you and/or your family. When it comes to both adults and children alike, there are several things that are quickly pushed aside as “normal” when it comes to illnesses or impairments we may experience. I truly believe that with knowledge comes power, which includes understanding ways to help heal the body without relying on medications or surgery as the only option. We are all meant to thrive and there is so much we can do for ourselves and our family with a proactive vs. reactive approach to our health and wellness!
